Primordial Stone — Hand-Crafted Stone Effects Across the UK
Where Ancient Stone Meets Modern Craft
Some walls just stop you in your tracks. A fireplace that looks like it's been there for three hundred years. A restaurant wall that makes you feel the weight of history before you've even sat down. A garden rockery that seems to have grown from the earth itself. That is what Primordial Stone builds — by hand, from scratch, for clients who want something genuinely extraordinary.
We are Roger and Jonny — a two-man founding team with a combined 30 years in the building trade and 5 years working together as dedicated faux stone and artisan stone craftsmen. We are based in Portsmouth, Hampshire, and we work on residential and commercial stone projects across the whole of the United Kingdom.
We don't use off-the-shelf panels. We don't work from moulds. We sculpt every stone by hand, apply every render coat with trade precision, and colour every surface with a multi-layer technique that creates genuine depth and realism. The result is work that doesn't just look like stone — it feels like stone. Permanently.

Meet Roger & Jonny — The Founders of Primordial Stone
Primordial Stone was founded by Roger and Jonny — two tradespeople in their late thirties who spent the better part of two decades building, renovating, and restoring properties across the South of England before turning their combined expertise towards something they couldn't stop thinking about: the extraordinary power of stone to transform a space.
Roger, 40, and Jonny, 39, bring 30 years of combined building trade experience to every project — experience that covers new builds, period property renovation, commercial fit-out, render and masonry, structural work, and specialist finishes. When they founded Primordial Stone 5 years ago, they weren't starting from scratch. They were applying everything they'd learned about how buildings actually work to a craft that most people only see the surface of.
That background is what sets Primordial Stone apart. Other businesses offer stone-effect finishes. Roger and Jonny offer stone-effect finishes built by people who understand substrates, weatherproofing, fire safety, structural context, and long-term performance — because they've spent their careers working on exactly those things.
The result is work that doesn't just look right on day one. It looks right — and holds right — for decades.
